Properly certified, and here is what that means
Most air conditioning credentials are meaningless to the person paying for the job. These are the ones that are not, and what each actually tells you.
REFCOM registeredF-Gas scheme
REFCOM is the F-Gas registration scheme run by the Building Engineering Services Association. It certifies that a company is legally permitted to handle fluorinated refrigerant gases.
Without it, an installer cannot legally work on a split system at all.
F-Gas certified engineerCity & Guilds
The individual qualification for handling refrigerant. It covers safe recovery, leak testing, charging and decommissioning.
It is the engineer holding the gauges who needs this, not just the company on the invoice.

One thing worth checking on any quote you receive
Air conditioning needs F-Gas certification, not Gas Safe. Gas Safe covers gas appliances such as boilers and is the wrong credential entirely for refrigerant work — yet it appears on a surprising number of air conditioning websites. If a company is displaying Gas Safe for an air conditioning job, ask them for their F-Gas registration before you go any further.

How long does a typical installation take?
Most single-room installations are completed in a single day, with the system up and running before we leave. Multi-zone or commercial installations usually take 2–5 days depending on scope. From the day you order, you'll have a working system within two weeks.
How much does a home air conditioning system cost?
A single-room wall-mounted Daikin or Mitsubishi install typically starts from £2,200 fully fitted. Multi-room systems are priced per site based on ducting, cable runs, and outdoor unit placement. Every quote is fixed-price, with no surprises.
Can air conditioning really heat my home in winter?
Absolutely, and far more efficiently than central heating. Modern inverter heat pumps deliver roughly three times as much heat per kilowatt of electricity as a standard electric heater, making them one of the most cost-effective heating options available.
Which brands do you install?
I specialise in Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric, the two best-in-class manufacturers for residential and light-commercial use. I also install Panasonic, LG, and Samsung where they're the better fit for your budget or space.
Do you cover my part of London?
I cover all of Greater London and the immediate home counties. Most of my work is across North, North-West and Central London, but I'm happy to travel further for the right project. Give me a call and we'll see.
Do I need planning permission?
It depends on three things. A reversible heat-pump system on a house outside a conservation area will often fall under permitted development. But cooling-only units are not covered at all, flats and maisonettes have no permitted development rights anywhere, and conservation areas restrict what is allowed.
